Can you earn money just by liking or watching videos on platforms such as TikTok or YouTube? Apparently you can, but don’t expect to get rich. While the programs that legitimately offer payment for simply watching and / or liking content on social media may not pay as much as their affiliate marketers and promoters may claim, they aren’t really scams. In other words, they do pay you and you don’t pay them. With that being said however, there are scammers using this ‘pay to watch and like tactic’ to lure in victims looking for an easy side hustle.
There has been one scam going around claiming that you can earn cash by simply liking YouTube videos. These scammers will even send you a few dollars after your first day of work to help prove their legitimacy. Once they have you hooked, you’ll be offered an opportunity to join an exclusive list of VIPs who make even more money. That doesn’t sound so bad. Easy money with the possibility of earning even more. Sign me up! But of course, this is where the scam happens. In order to join the exclusive list of VIPs, you need to make a payment of up to $1,000. And of course, people who fall for this scam never see another dollar.
Another scam is targeting TikTok users by posing as TikTok employees. These scammers send out text messages telling people that they can make hundreds of dollars a day simply liking TikTok videos. The scam is usually targeted at teenagers, who are more prone to believe the message is actually from a TikTok employee. And these messages can look legit. Most often these are phishing attempts.
The best defense against these scams is to ignore them. You are not going to make hundreds of dollars per day liking and watching videos.
