Using diabetic drugs for weight loss has become all the rage over the past year or so, so much so that people with diabetes are having trouble getting their medication due to lack of availability. And it’s because of this popularity, that scams associated with these GLP-1 agonists drugs have really taken off.

People are desperate to get their hands on these drugs, and scammers know it. As a result, scammers are setting up phony websites telling people that they can get these diabetes drugs through their website without a prescription. This should be your first red flag that this site is not legitimate because these drugs can’t be sold without a prescription. Other sites may offer the drugs at a discount. These medications can be expensive, so a big discount sounds appealing.

By clicking through or purchasing through these fraudulent websites, you risk not only the fact that you may never receive your order, you also risk much more, including a drain on your bank account and stolen identity. One common tactic that scammers use to scare people who have purchased from them is to follow up with a call or text, threatening to turn the victim over to law enforcement if they don’t pay up, claiming that they made an illegal purchase which will cost them jail time. This threat works, because the victim probably already knows that their attempted purchase wasn’t exactly above the law.

Be careful when searching online for these medications. If you do need weight loss help, speak with your primary care provider and ask about the different weight loss options that may be available to you.
